Ausgabe Mai 1998 VIDEO JAZZ 625 (Fortsetzung) Autor: Richard Wiedamann Jazz 625 (Ausgabe April 1998) Home	Nachstehend Informationen über die restlichen, in der April-Nummer nicht besprochenen Videos der BBC-Reihe "jazz 625". Die Kenntnis dieser Videos macht einige Korrekturen, bzw. Ergänzungen zu unseren April-Ausführungen erforderlich. So wechselt die Moderation nach dem Joe Turner-Video von Humphrey Lyttelton zu Steve Race , kehrt dann im letzten mit Willie Smith wieder zu Lyttelton zurück (wir geben das ab Ben Webster an). Die Aufzeichnungen finden in unterschiedlichem, teils entschieden musikerfreundlicherem Ambiente statt. Nur in einem Fall (das Konzert mit dem Coleman Hawkins Quintet findet in der Wembley Town Hall statt) gibt es einen Hinweis auf den Veranstaltungsort, ansonsten ist also unklar ob die Aufnahme in entsprechend gestaltetetn Studios oder anderswo gemacht wurden. Highlights sind für mich die Videos mit Dizzy Gillespie, Clark Terry, Coleman Hawkins, Cannonball Adderley und Willie The Lion Smith. Da spielt aber wohl meine Vorliebe für dramaturgisch gute, möglichst mit wenigstens etwas Humor gestaltete Auftritte eine Rolle. Das musikalische Niveau ist überall Spitze.
